Zoe's Story

With a vision to drive profound changes in Taiwan's education, Victor joined Ascent Academy as Dean of Academic Affairs, focusing on teacher development and curriculum innovation; he firmly believes that " excellent teachers can multiply students' success ."

In his vision, every classroom is a laboratory, allowing curious learners to explore the world through reasoning and critical thinking —core competencies that will become increasingly important as new technologies emerge. Before joining Ascent, Victor had worked in language education and test preparation for over a decade. Early in his career, he tailored second language acquisition courses for Taiwanese students; later, he devoted himself to TOEFL® and SAT® instruction, redesigning the test-taking model to make test preparation a springboard for students' success in university and career , rather than a narrow pursuit of scores.

This progressive teaching strategy has helped many students frustrated by the traditional rote learning system transform themselves and cultivate the reading, writing, and argumentation skills needed for higher education. Victor's passion for education is also reflected in the cultivation of international debate and negotiation skills. During his university years, he was active in international conferences such as Model United Nations (MUN) and Model APEC, deeply experiencing the power of critical thinking, public speaking, and multilateral negotiation. After returning to Taiwan, he devoted himself to guiding MUN clubs and teams in many local high schools and universities, cultivating numerous award-winning representatives over the past decade, and conducting teacher workshops to help campus partners incorporate debate and simulated diplomacy into their formal curriculum. Victor believes that when Taiwanese students possess the skills to conduct research on issues, construct positions, and engage in cross-cultural dialogue, they will be able to speak confidently on the global stage ; this is precisely his original intention in investing in faculty empowerment and developing debate and negotiation courses at Ascent.

Victor's commitment to talent development extends beyond K-12. He has mentored college students, graduate students, and working professionals, and recently served as a language coach for senior executives in the finance and technology industries, gaining insights into the key competencies that the next generation of graduates must possess. In his early years, he served disadvantaged children in rural primary schools, reshaping English courses from scratch and witnessing timid children regain their confidence. This experience further solidified his belief that education can "change destinies."

Today, he has turned these insights into systematic action, dedicated to empowering teachers and inspiring students, making Ascent Academy a thriving community of curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning .
