Ascent students win champion and runner-up titles at Taiwan’s top debate tournament.
Taipei American School hosted Taiwan’s largest annual English debate tournament, where Ascent-trained students engaged in intense exchanges with top debaters from the U.S., Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and beyond. Through powerful clashes of language, logic, and perspective, Ascent teams emerged victorious. Claiming both champion and runner-up titles in the Middle School Public Forum division, and securing 8 of the Top 16 spots.
Notably, Lily and Owen, both only sixth graders, achieved a strong 4–2 record in prelims, then advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating a skilled team from Vietnam.
Another standout story came from Elvis (VIS) and Kenneth (PuTai)—two students who hadn’t met before the tournament. Despite starting with three consecutive losses, they refused to give up and rallied with an impressive three straight wins.
