Introduction to Course
This course integrates critical reading and academic writing skills to help students develop a strong foundation in analyzing and interpreting texts while effectively communicating their ideas. Students will learn not only to comprehend the meaning and structure of sentences but also to analyze the context, motivation, and purpose of a text, as well as the causal relationships between paragraphs. They will enhance their ability to critique the strengths and limitations of texts and refine their academic writing skills to articulate their analysis clearly.
The course incorporates the study of classic literature, current affairs, and international social issues to broaden students’ global perspectives and build their basic knowledge of history, geography, and economics. By reading and critiquing a variety of texts, students will improve their understanding of complex ideas and learn to present their thoughts effectively in academic formats.
